The Things that move us

Desert or track? It is fair to say I have definitely experienced a variety of terrains this year. 5 content filled days in the Dubai desert, the opportunities have been unreal.

I landed in Dubai with little or no expectations. I realised how much Instagram has connected me with such amazing people all over the world. I took this opportunity to catch a 5am LHD 2013 Landrover Defender 110, Honda XR250r and a Goose the dog with my friends @sandythelandy and Chirenj Chandran.

Sunrise seemed quite different in Dubai, the light was different, the colours weren’t varied, instead a grey haze seemed to appear and turned to sun very quickly. It was the first time I had experienced a desert before and it was breathtaking - the miles and miles of sand peaks and not a person in sight was peaceful yet it felt very isolated. The light bought out a tonne of sandy tones and maybe it was me being a photographer, but it made me really observe the light and how it forms the repetitive patterns of the dune peaks. It was beautiful to observe.

It was silent, until Sandy The Landy lost her grip in the sand… with a bit more tyre deflation and a few hands to dig us out, we came out the other side. Goose, the dog, chased us for miles. There was something mesmerising about standing at the highest point of a sand dune and watching a dog chase a defender across an open stretch of land. This is one of my favourite photographs from this trip and will forever help me remember this content creation experience.
